During teenage years, our sweat glands are more active and produce excessive sweat especially around the armpit, between the thighs, scalp, palms of hands and soles of feet.
Here are a few factors of body odour:
- Hormonal changes during teenage years may produce oily sweats which can easily attract bacteria and cause foul smelling body odour.
- Poor hygiene among teenagers may contribute to body odour as well.
- Chronic medical conditions such as thyroid disease, kidney disease, liver diasese, diabetes mellitus and heart disease may cause excessive sweating.
- Hyperhydrosis
- Stress or anxiety
6 tips to overcome body odour among teenagers:
- Bathe everyday and properly dry the skin after bath to prevent bacterial growth
- Cleanse the armpit region using antibacterial soap to prevent excessive sweating and bacterial growth
- Wear clean clothes especially fabric made from cotton which can easily absorb sweat.
- Use deodorant to combat body odour and reduce excessive sweating. For sensitive skin, please opt for hypoallergernic deodorant.
- Avoid oily and spicy foods
